So, I'm probably going to cut the old cats off and clean it all up, mount all the pieces with the new cats in place, weld the bottom, then pull it back apart and weld the top. They say they don't have any kind of a jig to hold it and can't do that. I called a couple of local muffler shops to see if they could clamp it down, cut apart, and weld it all together since it's all apart already. I have a good wire welder, though I'm not the best welder.
When I ordered the manifold, I also got universal magnaflow cats to weld in there while it was apart.
So I Pulled it apart the other day, drilled and extracted the stud, and have a new manifold and studs on there right now. Called a couple muffler shops and was blown away at the cost to replace and was told they're too close to the floor to weld in universals so they need new pipes, etc.Ī month or so ago, developed an exhaust leak.
I verified the sensors were good, so the cats must be bad.
